Enterprise Assessment
Northmarch begins with an inside-out assessment of the business. We examine financial performance, operations, workforce, capital requirements, market position, ownership objectives, and other factors that affect long-term value and transition. The result is a clear view of the enterprise and the realistic options available to its owners.
Transition Planning
Northmarch helps owners evaluate the available paths for the business, including family succession, management transition, sale, or other strategic alternatives. We identify what each path would require, the obstacles that may stand in its way, and the decisions that owners, family members, and future leadership will need to make. With the owner’s authorization, Northmarch works with the owner’s estate-planning and other professional advisers so that the business transition remains aligned with the owner’s objectives.
Transition Readiness
Many of the issues affecting value and transition can be addressed before a decision must be executed. Northmarch helps owners strengthen the enterprise by identifying operational, financial, organizational, and leadership concerns that may limit future options or reduce value. We then assist in developing a practical plan to address them.
Implementation and Transaction Support
Once a direction has been selected, Northmarch can remain involved to help carry it forward. We work on the owner’s side, coordinate with legal, financial, transaction, and other advisers, and help management prepare for and navigate due diligence. Throughout the process, we help the owner maintain a clear view of the enterprise, the transaction, and the objectives the transition is intended to achieve.
Fractional and Interim Executive Leadership
Some businesses need more than advice but do not require, or are not ready to hire, another full-time executive. Northmarch can provide fractional or interim leadership to address specific operational, strategic, or transition needs. Drawing on experience as general counsel, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer, Scott can work within the business to strengthen management capacity, advance critical initiatives, and help prepare the enterprise for its next stage.
